*BOURBON HAS A BITE HISTORY*

Bourbon in a glass is nice, but what about Bourbon at your feet? This bright-eyed, white-chested, spirited (get it?) little girl is on the hunt for a home of her very own. Maybe it’s yours!

Bourbon was purchased from a breeder when she was 18 months old (she is now a barrel-aged 6 years, 7 months) and spent her formative years in an indoor/outdoor kennel. As a result, she never quite got the hang of going potty outdoors, which was fine for a while but became less so with the addition of two crawling babies. Once in foster care, Bourbon was given a crash course in potty training and a consistent bathroom schedule, and would you believe it—she’s only had one accident this entire time! (Yay, Bourbon!) Bourbon might backslide a bit in her new home (this is actually pretty common with rescued dogs, and her foster mom will tell you about the schedule Bourbon is on now) but with a little fine tuning she’ll get with the program in no time at all.

As for that bite history: in her previous home, Bourbon was trying to engage a small child in play and nipped him on the face. Her teeth left a light scrape, but no skin was broken, and the bite was not the reason for her surrender. While in foster care, Bourbon has shown exactly zero signs of aggression, but she can get very mouthy (and even a bit nippy) when overexcited. For this reason, Bourbon will not be placed in a household with children, and her new family should be prepared to work with her on this somewhat less-than-savory behavior. If you’re looking for a sweet, mellow dog who spends less time doing zoomies and more time taking snoozies, then Bourbon is your girl. Although she shows bursts of energy when excited, she’s much more content to spend the day sprawled out in a sunbeam or snuggled up with one of her canine foster siblings. On that topic, now that Bourbon knows what it’s like to live with other dogs, she doesn’t want to go back to being an only child. Right now, she is living with 6 other bulldogs (of both the French and English variety) and couldn’t be happier—in fact, she has taken on the duty of cleaning her foster siblings’ faces every day and is doing a most excellent job. When she isn’t snoozing in a pile of bulldog (or in the people bed—where else?), Bourbon enjoys going for car rides and short walks around the neighborhood. Her favorite game is to take her Nylabone, fling it in the air, and go chasing after it—a pastime that is equal parts entertaining and adorable. Bourbon is also quite the clothes horse, and her forever family will have to make room in their closet for her extensive collection of stylish outerwear!

Bourbon is in good health and requires only a high-quality, grain-free food to keep her coat shiny and her skin clear. She is crate-trained and will enter her kennel on command. Just about any type of home would be great for Bourbon, so long as there are plenty of opportunities for snuggling and snoozing with her people! Of course she would love to have a person to keep her company during the day, but she’d also be just fine staying at home with her doggie companion(s) (with a midday break to use the facilities, of course). Bourbon would also make an excellent take-to-work dog, as long as you don’t expect her to do much more than nap at your feet! 

Bourbon’s foster mom is in love with her brindle sweetie, and gives this little bit of endearing inside info: “Bourbon loves to snuggle with you just before bedtime. She will share your pillow, snuggle against you, and then move into her own space to sleep. This girl loves her clothes; you’ll need to make room in the closet for her wardrobe! She enjoys sitting in your lap but is not pushy about being picked up.”

FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo. Except in rare or unusual cases, adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. In rare or unusual cases, FBRN may be able to assist in transporting a dog to a volunteer near the adopter's home, but the expense of transporting the dog must be the responsibility of the adopting party.
