"Wicklow has been such a pleasure to foster. She is the kind of dog that people dream of having. Whoever adopts Wicklow will understand how special she really is."

Remember Wicklow? This gorgeous double-hooded, brindle pied Frenchie was surrendered after her previous owners could not afford to have her broken elbow fixed. Thankfully, FBRN and her awesome medical team were able to fix the bad fracture and save her front leg from amputation. She also had a rear tibial fracture which healed on its own without any surgery.

She has spent quite a few months at her foster home healing from her surgery, but now she is ready to find her forever family. Wicklow would love to have someone stay with her at home all day, go with her person to work every day, or maybe even become a therapy dog! She really prefers human companionship and attention, especially male, over canine company but does get along with resident and visiting pups. She would do best with older children who realize they have to be a bit more gentle with her. If you do have other pups in the home, please be aware that she does not like to share her food dish or toys with anyone, so feeding and toys in crates is best. Make sure to tell us if you have previous experience successfully managing resource guarding. Oh, and Wicklow is allergic to cats (or so she will have us believe) so no cats please.

Wicklow loves all sorts of toys: frisbees, squeaky toys, balls. She is crate trained, housebroken (letting you know when she needs to go out), and comes when called. Since she doesn't know all the ins and outs of obedience, she could benefit from a class or two. But she's already an expert at loving humans and seeking their attention so if that's your desire, Wicklow is your match!

If you live in anything other than a single-story establishment, tell us how you will accommodate Wicklow's need for special access to stairs/multi-levels: it could be an elevator, custom electric wheelchair stair lift, private manservants transporting her in a sedan chair (with or without fanning palm fronds) or anything else that prevents her from going up and down stairs on her own four legs. While she is fit as a fiddle now, if she injures that elbow again, the leg will probably have to be amputated. Also, she will most likely develop some arthritis in one or both legs in the future due to her injuries so avoiding stairs in general will be best.

Despite her physical set back, she has always been wiggling and waggling her bottom as fast as it will go when her foster mom walks into the room. Foster mom wants Wicklow's future family to know, "Wicklow has been such a pleasure to foster. She is the kind of dog that people dream of having. Whoever adopts Wicklow will understand how special she really is."

Wicklow is a bit too big to be flying under the seat in a commercial airplane and she might set off the metal detectors with all the new hardware in her elbow, so plan on driving to New Jersey to pick her up. She loves looking out the car window while riding in her elevated car seat so apply now. Don't you want to see her wiggle and waggle her lil' bum everyday?

FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.

FBRN dogs are in foster care in people's private homes. For the foster families' safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don't set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
