"an extremely happy dog who wants nothing more than to snuggle with his people. He'll be at the couch before you even know it and wait for you next to the spot where he knows you'll be sitting to ask for belly rubs.
He loves car rides to new places and walks around the neighborhood. He is extremely friendly and enjoys meeting new people. I bring him with me to as many places as I can and he's always curious but well behaved. Even though he has some allergies, they do not hinder his daily activities or his energy level as long as his restricted diet is adhered to. All this handsome boy needs to be happy is a little TLC for his allergies, lots of snuggle time, and a ball."

Welcome one of the most athletic Frenchies to ever grace the FBRN available page: Pele! This handsome fella was surrendered after his former family experienced a change in life situation which prevented them from being able to care for his allergies. He entered foster care with a skin infection and an uncontrollable itch, which has now subsided thanks to Apoquel and a restricted diet.

Pele might be a combination of the best of both frog-dog worlds: he loves to snuggle and is the ultimate Velcro dog and, at the same time, he has energy for days and might hold the world record for the highest French bulldog vertical leap. Like his namesake, Pele absolutely loves chasing balls and playing fetch so if you're an extra active family, tell us in your application. With some agility training, Pele too could be a world-class athlete.

Besides having allergies managed with diet and medication, Pele does have cherry eye (third eyelid prolapse) in his right eye, which comes and goes. Surgical repositioning could become necessary if it ever comes and stays (does not go away on its own) because that third eyelid is important for tear production and lubrication. Adopters would have to be financially committed to lifelong allergy management and cherry eye monitoring with potential future treatment.

If Pele could draw a picture of his ideal home, there would be a fenced yard, or at least a green space nearby. He gets along with other dogs so there might be a fur sibling or two in his drawing. There wouldn't be any cats because he has never encountered one and we don't take any chances with unknown furr-ocious felines. If he were to have any human siblings, they would have to be old enough to handle his high energy and understand his dietary restrictions. While he would probably have instant gratification from a clandestine chicken nugget, his allergies definitely disagree with any deviations from his diet. He might adapt to an office environment because he does quite well in the crate and is relatively calm during the day, but if you have to go to work, a midday break or pet walker would be fine as well.

In addition to being house broken, crate trained and knowing his basic obedience commands, Pele also has a rare talent not shared by most Frenchies. Hold onto your futbols when we tell you: Pele comes when he is called! If you know Frenchies like we know Frenchies, that can definitely be an uncommon, yet highly desirable quality. Who needs the "down" command when Pele will answer to his name all while pogo-sticking around the house?

Pele's foster mom describes him as "an extremely happy dog who wants nothing more than to snuggle with his people. He loves car rides to new places and walks around the neighborhood. He is extremely friendly and enjoys meeting new people. All this handsome boy needs to be happy is a little TLC for his allergies, lots of snuggle time, and a ball."

Interested in this pup with a strong spring in his step? Pele doesn't want to wait until the next World Cup to find his new forever family so click on his link and tell us in your application how it is your "gooooaaaallll" to create the very best environment for Pele. Prepare to pack all your balls and take a road trip to Connecticut because Pele loves car rides and is too big to fly anyway.

FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo. Except in rare or unusual cases, adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. In rare or unusual cases, FBRN may be able to assist in transporting a dog to a volunteer near the adopter's home, but the expense of transporting the dog must be the responsibility of the adopting party.

FBRN dogs are in foster care in people's private homes. For the foster families' safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don't set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
