"Adelaide is a small dog with a BIG heart. She just wants to be loved and enjoy human companionship. She spent the first part of her life as a breeding dog and now needs to learn the basics of being a pet. Lots of snuggles and patience are all that are required to earn her trust."

Do you have a soft spot for shy, snuggly seniors? Look no further than sweet 8-year-old Adelaide who is making her debut on the available page. She came to FBRN as a breeder surrender with multiple ailments (itchy paws, skin allergies, nasty ears and a bladder infection), but after some time in foster care, her health is improving!

And what else has improved? Adelaide's knowledge on how to be a pet. She has been acing her summer school classes and is ready for continuing education with her next chapter in life: "Furthering Familiarity and Function in a Forever Family." Adelaide would love a calm and quiet home in which to pursue her studies. She needs a family who is very patient and willing to help build her confidence in unfamiliar situations.

While Adelaide currently lives with other dogs, she would prefer to be an only pet. And who can blame her? This is her time to shine and she is not interested in sharing her cuddle time with anyone but her human. And because younger children might be too unpredictable and energetic for Adelaide, older, calmer children could be a match. She absolutely loves being petted and receiving belly rubs.

Adelaide definitely qualifies for an honor's class in napping and snuggling, but PE is not her strong suit. Adelaide is a very short and, shall we say, "sturdy" 25 pounds. She is not the most adept jumper so a home without a lot of stairs would be ideal. Because she truly thrives on human companionship (and deserves around-the-clock attention!), she is looking for someone who will stay home with her most of the time. She also needs someone financially committed to continuing her diet and medication regimen for her food and skin allergies (approx. $70/month).

Prior to FBRN, she had never even seen a leash, let alone walked on one. Once she builds up her confidence and leash skills, she might want to venture out on a leisurely stroll in the neighborhood, but, until then, a fenced yard is required so she can sniff and explore in a safe place. She surely will want to show off her skills she learned in the class, "Sun Rays: Best Practices for Optimal Placement and Minimal Repositioning."

Adelaide's foster mom has nicknamed her "Addy the brave" because she has been a champ at every frequent vet visit. She also says, "Adelaide is a small dog with a BIG heart. She just wants to be loved and enjoy human companionship. She spent the first part of her life as a breeding dog and now needs to learn the basics of being a pet. Lots of snuggles and patience are all that are required to earn her trust."

Have Adelaide's accolades intrigued you? Click on this sweetie's link to apply. If you send us your diploma from BBRU (Best Belly Rubs University), your application just might be prioritized. You (or your driver) must also have a valid driver's license and a planned route to Missouri because Adelaide will not fly.

FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.

FBRN dogs are in foster care in people's private homes. For the foster families' safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don't set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
