Sir Wigglesbutt was surrendered to FBRN when his family found themselves unable to give him the attention and care he needed. The sweet boy had been battling allergy-related ear infections for two years, and he needed a family who had the time and the resources to help him get relief.
This chunky, derpy dude is affectionate and social without being clingy. He follows his foster parents around, and curls up contentedly in his bed, happy in the knowledge that they are in the same room. He loves a good nap, but he also loves a good walk. When the harness comes out, he does a two-paw happy dance, and then tries to bolt out the door--be sure to tell us how you expect to keep him in the house when family members are coming in or going out. He has two speeds -- go go go and no no no. He likes to keep it moving at a brisk pace until he is tired and then he hits the brakes. His forever family should be committed to making sure he gets moderate exercise in the form of regular, leashed walks while being cognizant of the fact that Frenchies have issues with overheating.
Wigglesbutt sometimes decides to go for walks on his own, unfortunately. He is, er, "known to the authorities" in his former town, and has slipped out the door a few times in his foster home. He should not be allowed off leash in unfenced areas, because he is so interested in exploring, he suddenly develops selective hearing and will not come when he's called. Do you want to be running down the road in hot pursuit yelling, "WIGGLESBUTT… WIGGLESBUTT…?" No, we thought not.
While his recall is clearly lacking, Wigglesbutt insisted that we let you know that he is housebroken, and is working on "paw" and "sit-stay." He would also like us to mention that he does not agree with crating. He would like to have a securely fenced yard, and he would be happiest with someone who is around most of the time, even if it means taking him to the office. He loves other dogs, and can be a little overly enthusiastic with his greetings, barreling at them in typical Frenchie fashion, expecting them to be just as pleased to see him as he is to see them. He is also fine with kids and cats… Heck, Wigglesbutt seems to love everybody! He isn't as enthusiastic about toys, but has one favorite that he suckles on, and he likes to keep an antler buried in his blanket just in case he needs it later. His foster brother is very polite, and makes no attempt to abscond with WB's toy or antler. It would be best if any other dogs in the home were similarly virtuous. We should mention that meals are served separately in the foster home, and each dog has his own space to enjoy high-value treats such as bones, yak-milk chews, etc. These are common sense precautions and everyone should take them.
Wigglesbutt has a few minor health issues. He is prone to ear infections, and will need to be kept on an allergen-free diet for the rest of his life. Meticulous attention will need to be paid to his ear health. We should mention that Wigglesbutt does not like to have medicine put in his ears. He has a Jedi-like sense of when someone is approaching with the dreaded drops, and wiggles and snaps at the air (but not at the person) when it is ear drop time. The poor little man doesn't realize that it's for his own good. His tail pocket also requires routine maintenance, and his teeth are quite wonky. While they are not causing any issues at the moment, some may need to be pulled in the future.
Foster Mom says, "I cannot imagine what it is like to grow up with a family for 6.5 years and suddenly find yourself with new people, a new routine, in a city environment, with everything being foreign. But he has adapted because he is such a laid back, easy going, funny little guy. He is so lovable and will make someone an incredible addition to the family. I can't think of a negative thing to say about him. Even his lack of obedience training isn't really an issue because he is so chill. He's not a big licker, but he will come right up to my face and sniff my entire face and head. It's his way of asking me if I would like to pet him. And boy does he want to be petted. He is a certified hand addict and has no problem using his big brown eyes to plead for scratches. And if that doesn't work, he will use his big head to remind you (by bumping into them) that he would like scratches. And if that doesn't work, a loving, gentle nudge from his paw on your hand may convince you."

If Wigglesbutt sounds like a dream come true, fill out an application and start planning a trip to the Big Apple area. Keep in mind that he is too big to fly. FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people's private homes. For the foster families' safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don't set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
